Background:

Copa-Cogeca represents farmers and agri-cooperatives at EU level. As such, we are looking for our new Public/Press relation manager to reinforce our communication department as of Q4 2024.

The person we are looking for will have an important role to play in the preparation of our communications strategies internally and their promotion toward media and stakeholders. The ideal candidate would therefore be someone familiar with both agricultural issues and press relations. 

This position will also provide a valuable insight into the agri-food sector in Brussels and beyond, as well as the opportunity to work alongside experienced experts in the field of agriculture and communication.

Main tasks:

Under the supervision of the Copa-Cogeca Communication Director, you will be responsible for the development and management of the organisation's public/press relations.  You will be a key member of the team, helping to implement the overall communications strategies.

  • As such you will be responsible for the preparation and writing of press releases in close contact with Copa-Cogeca’s policy advisors and their promotion on all our digital platforms.
  • You will also manage the coordination of responses concerning the various press requests.
  • You will participate in the weekly policy teams team meeting providing advice, presenting media reporting and coordinating publication calendar.
  • You will guide and propose creative concepts for the work of our in-house graphic designer to best illustrate posts and publications.   
  • You will also be involved in internal communications tasks including the preparation of a weekly briefing and a daily newsletter directed to colleagues and members and content update on our intranet.
  • More occasionally, you will support communication efforts for events, EU projects/platforms as well as the launch of publications and position papers.

Profile:

Two types of profile are to be considered for the position:

  • You have solid experience in press relations/you have worked as a journalist at EU level. OR
  • You have solid experience of European farming issues with declared interest for communication and press relations. 

Other important qualities for this position include:

  • Good command of written and spoken English is mandatory (additional EU languages are a plus).
  • Relevant degree in Communication/journalism/agronomy with at least 3 to 5 years of experience in relevant positions.
  • Familiarity with the European media landscape and/or extensive knowledge of EU agriculture policy debates.
  • A first knowledge of CRM/ERP tools, mass mailing and web publication is key.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Excellent organisational skills, flexibility, openness to learn and willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
