Eurocarers – the European organisation working for carers (www.eurocarers.org) - is seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Director to lead the development and implementation of our mission to develop the advocacy movement of millions of informal carers across Europe. The Executive Director drives the organisation’s strategic direction and manages its operations, partnerships and advocacy to ensure that they align with our strategic goals. This is a unique opportunity to lead a mission-driven organisation and shape policies that influence the future of care in Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership Shape and implement an effective strategic approach to organisational growth and network development.
  • Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, including budgeting, finance, legal affairs and human resources, to support best practice corporate governance
  • Policy & Research: Lead the development and implementation of policy initiatives that support informal carers and ensure that research activities support evidence-based policy making.
  • Capacity Building: Manage capacity-building projects supporting member organisations to strengthen support systems for informal carers at regional and national level.
  • Funding acquisition: Grow and diversify the organisation’s income streams.
  • Communications and Relationship building: Maintain and strengthen relationships with key partners including member organisations, EU institutions and other EU level NGOs.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following in their professional background:

  • Effective management of an advocacy, policy or non-profit organisation (ideally at international level).
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and networking skills (track record of effective engagement with EU institutions highly desirable).
  • Successfully negotiating and delivering projects using a variety of funding sources including EU funding.
  • Powerful written and oral communication skills, fluency in English and one of the official languages of Belgium (additional languages an advantage).

Location: Brussels / Hybrid

Contract Type: Permanent/Full Time (38h/week)

Salary: €5000 - €7000 + additional benefits (incl. representation allowance; pension and hospitalisation insurance; 10 added days to statutory entitlement of 20 days of leave and a ‘13th month’ of salary)
