Hydrogen Europe is seeking a dynamic and versatile professional to join our team as a Senior Funding Officer, specialising in European energy and funding schemes, policy, and industry partnerships.

Main responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Hydrogen Europe’s advocacy and positioning on:
    • Current and upcoming EU climate and energy funding schemes, including the Innovation Fund, Horizon Europe, Connecting Europe Facility for Energy and Transport, and Invest EU.
    • State Aid frameworks and national funding schemes from Member States.
    • Carbon pricing mechanisms and EU industrial policy for manufacturing in the hydrogen economy. 
  • Draft policy and position papers in collaboration with industry stakeholders, and coordinate responses to public consultations. 
  • Coordinate and support the Funding and Finance Working Group, while providing support to other working groups. 
  • Advocate Hydrogen Europe’s positions to EU policymakers in coordination with the Funding and Finance Manager and the Chief Policy Officer.
  • Represent Hydrogen Europe at external events, build strategic partnerships with aligned organisations, and participate as a speaker where relevant.  
  • Prepare briefings and documents adapted to different stakeholders and audiences. 

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience in European Affairs and/or EU funding programmes, with a strong understanding of EU climate policy and funding instruments. 
  • A relevant experience in large energy projects and their financial framework, with a good basis of project or corporate finance dynamics
  • Experience with strategic, economic, and regulatory issues in the energy or industrial sectors, and motivation to deepen expertise in hydrogen technologies would be highly valued. 
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with policymakers and stakeholders.
  • Advanced experience in MS Excel; experience with data management tools is an asset. 
  • Excellent drafting skills with the ability to produce clear and convincing documents, compelling content for both technical and non-technical audiences, 
  • Excellent English speaking & writing skills. 
  • Flexible, curious, and creative mindset, capable of quickly adapting to new topics and propose innovative ideas. 
  • Able to manage complexity and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Nice to have:

  • Ability to assess company financials and evaluate project or business case bankability. 
  • Experience with databases or data analytical tools. 
  • Additional EU languages.
