RURANET EEIG is looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Policy Analyst to join the team at the CAP Implementation Contact Point (CAPI CP), an integral part of the EU CAP Network.
This role focuses on EU agricultural policy in a stakeholder centred networking environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, people-oriented, and have a good understanding of agricultural policy—particularly the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
The position requires strong organisational and multitasking skills, and confidence in engaging with a broad range of stakeholders.
Description of tasks
- Contributing to CAPI CP activities related to the analysis of CAP Strategic Plans (CSPs).
- Ability to follow developments in EU agricultural policy and connect them to the implementation of CAP Strategic Plans.
- Supporting the design and delivery of thematic work related to the CAP’s general objectives.
- Supporting the development and delivery of online and in-person workshops and events to support the wide range of stakeholders involved in specific areas of CSP implementation and policy (Managing Authorities, Paying Agencies, Auditors, European Commission and other EU Institutions, National Networks, farmers and farming organisations, advisers, civil society organisations and other relevant stakeholders).
- Producing follow-up outputs such as reports, briefings, and good practice examples.
- Preparing and delivering presentations on behalf of the CAPI CP, at EU CAP Network and external stakeholder events.
- Actively participating in CAPI CP team discussions and collaborative work.
- Contributing to the wider work of the EU CAP Network as appropriate.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:
Essential
- A relevant university degree (e.g. agriculture, rural development, EU policy, or related fields).
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in agriculture and rural development fields.
- Knowledge of EU institutions and their functioning.
- Good knowledge of CAP implementation and rural development programmes.
- Ability to carry out background research, make sense of complex information, and present it in clear and accessible English for the EU CAP Network audience.
- Facilitation experience and strong communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and ability to work in a team.
- Fluent English (CEFR Proficient User C1) and good command of at least one other EU language (CEFR independent user B2).
Desirable
- Presentation skills and familiarity with participatory techniques to engage stakeholders.
- Understanding of how the CAP is implemented at national level.
- Experience with networking in an agricultural and/or rural development context at EU and/or national level.
- Experience engaging with a variety of stakeholders.
