The Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, the official political think tank of the European People’s Party (EPP, the largest European-level political party of the centre-right), conducts activities on a wide range of policy-oriented, EU-related issues. The Martens Centre is an organisation that offers the unique opportunity to join an energetic team which lays the groundwork for the foundation’s ambitious plan of action. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and innovative individual to fill the following opening: 

Project Assistant

Projected start date is May 2025. This is a full-time, permanent, Brussels-based position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate suppliers and all event logistics (budget, venue, catering, travel, taskforce, technical equipment, etc.)
  • Organise internal meetings and manage the calendar of events
  • Assist with other organisational and administrative tasks of the Centre
  • Support the Martens Centre leadership
  • Organise travel and accommodation for event speakers/guests/staff
  • Execute and monitor event registration, including preparation of event email invitations, sending and RSVPs
  • Management and organisation of joint activities with Martens Centre member foundations
  • Oversee, record and update the project budget  
  • Financial and regulatory compliance monitoring
  • Active co-operation with the Martens Centre research and communication departments
  • Assist in the development of the Martens Centre publications
  • Plan, manage and ensure the smooth running of events
  • Contribute to online initiatives of the Martens Centre
  • Maintain relations and search for new venues, suppliers and contractors; negotiate prices and analyse offers

Candidate requirements:

  • University degree in political science, social science, law, economics or any related disciplines
  • Fluency in English, with proven writing skills; knowledge of additional languages is welcome
  • Experience in project management
  • Excellent analytical as well as organisational skills
  • Good knowledge of European and international politics as well as familiarity with the history and the tradition of the Christian Democrat, Conservative and like-minded political parties of the EPP
  • Committed and flexible team player, able to work in a multi-national environment, to deliver on short notice and to multitask
  • Availability to travel on short notice is an asset
  • Proven track record of organising successful events of different sizes
  • Ability to multitask, delegate and supervise as well as work under pressure and with tight deadlines
