The European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment (FEDARENE) is a leading European network of regional energy agencies. We facilitate the development of interregional partnerships and projects, promote the regional dimension in debates on sustainable energy and the environment, and help regions develop their capacity to take action for the energy and climate transition. We offer a position with responsibility and focus on EU projects’ activities within a well-established European association (30+ years), representing members from 25 European countries and active in one of the most strategic areas of current European politics.

Your main missions:

You will mainly be involved in FEDARENE’s activities in EU-funded projects focusing on adaptation to climate change.

You will also be involved in the roll-out of FEDARENE’s services to its members.

Tasks include (but are not limited to):

  • Design and implement a capacity-building programme for public authorities on adaptation to climate change
  • Organise events (webinars and workshops) from start to end (planning, implementation and reporting) and support the organisation of high-level events;
  • Keep up-to-date a database of funding & financing opportunities in the adaptation sector
  • Draft deliverables and ensure an efficient and on-time delivery of all outputs, including technical & financial reports;
  • Support the overall roll-out of FEDARENE’s services to its members and especially the working group on adaptation
  • Support other colleagues in the implementation of their EU projects’ activities

Preferred education & experience:

Master’s degree in a relevant field.

5 years’ experience in a similar role. What we will evaluate positively is experience in the following areas:

  • Implementation of EU-funded projects or initiatives (Horizon Europe, Interreg, LIFE…),
  • Supporting local and/or regional authorities in their energy/climate transition
  • Event organisation (multiple formats)
  • Organisation and delivery of peer-to-peer programmes for public officials.
  • Team management

Employee Profile

Required skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office package, especially MS Excel
  • Ability to deeply understand technical issues and to translate them for a broader public understanding.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English at a C1 minimum level; Knowledge of other EU languages (C1) is considered an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of EU policies on climate and energy.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.

Our offer

  • Full-time employment in our office in Brussels, Belgium (contract under the Belgian Law). Initial contract of 12 months. Please note that only candidates with the right to work in the EU will be considered.
  • Teleworking is possible several days a week, but you will be required to come to the office weekly. Full remote working is not possible.
