The European Principal Traders Association (FIA EPTA) is looking for a talented and driven communications professional, to further advance the strategic positioning and impact of our advocacy on behalf of Europe’s most advanced, dynamic and innovative trading firms.

FIA EPTA is the trade association representing the leading independent market making firms in Europe. Our members are liquidity providers who are making stronger and more competitive European capital markets a reality. FIA EPTA works constructively with policy makers, regulators and other stakeholders across the EU and UK to ensure transparent, resilient and trusted financial markets.
This is a hybrid role based out of Amsterdam.
What makes you a perfect fit:
- You have 5+ years of experience in external / internal communications, corporate affairs, journalism or similar role, for example in an industry association, a media organisation, a consulting, financial or professional services firm, or in a government or regulatory agency;
- You combine strong analytical and strategic thinking with a proactive, can-do mentality for identifying effective messaging opportunities;
- You know how to convincingly frame policy arguments and have a drive for shaping the narrative and for influencing perceptions at the highest levels of EU and UK policy making;
- You are a creative and fluid writer and talented editor who enjoys translating complex issues into crisp and clear messages – in excellent written and spoken English;
- You have a proven track record of building constructive long-term relationships with journalists and media organisations;
- You are an effective communicator on social media (LinkedIn) and know how to have optimal impact;
- You are a team player with excellent project management and advisory skills;
- You have a strong interest in financial markets, regulation, European affairs and advocacy;
- You are available for regular travel within Europe
What you will do:
You will have primary responsibility for FIA EPTA’s external communications, member engagement and internal governance reporting. This includes:
Strategic narrative and messaging development
- Working with FIA EPTA’s policy team, members and our public affairs consultants to shape effective policy and advocacy narratives and embedding these into our external messaging and written outputs (such as consultation responses and position papers);
- Developing and executing up-to-date communications plans to support FIA EPTA’s advocacy in in our key priority policy areas, focusing on EU and UK securities market structure and prudential regulation;
Content creation and (social) media
- Drafting high quality content for various external and member facing uses, including for LinkedIn;
- Relationship management with relevant financial media, trade press and conference organisations, ensuring continuity in media relationships and visibility of our work by journalists and conference organisers;
Member engagement and internal governance
- Maintaining the ongoing relationship with FIA EPTA member firms and prospects, keeping members informed on and engaged with FIA EPTA’s work
- Responsibility for FIA EPTA's day-to-day internal governance, including the preparation of documentation for FIA EPTA Executive Committee and Members Meetings
- Various project management to further develop FIA EPTA as a membership organisation.
In this role, you will work in close cooperation with FIA EPTA’s small but highly experienced policy team, reporting to FIA EPTA’s Secretary General. You will collaborate on an ongoing basis with member firms’ experts and will also be part of a supportive peer group of communications, advocacy and marketing professionals within the wider global FIA organisation.
This is a full-time position. FIA EPTA applies a hybrid work-from-home/work-in-the-office policy.
