Editor to oversee Euractiv’s Technology coverage
Euractiv is looking for an experienced editor with a keen interest in all things related to digital (technology, 5G, telecoms, Internet, to platforms, regulation, disinformation and cybersecurity) to coordinate and oversee the coverage from Brussels, Paris, and Berlin, as well as from across Europe.
The ideal candidate – a digital native – will be expected to plan, drive, and coordinate the coverage of the Technology hub but also to coordinate with the entire editorial team.
Main responsibilities:
- Coordinate and drive technology coverage, from initial story ideas to the publication, with a particular focus on timely delivery.
- Coordinating and editing the Tech Pro Brief Newsletter on a regular basis.
- Set editorial priorities and manage the Technology hub.
- Write breaking news stories, interviews, as well as in-depth and background articles for a specialised audience
- Write in-depth policy briefings and special reports to deadline
- Conduct interviews with high-level officials, including EU Commissioners, MEPs, business leaders and policy experts
- Contribute to meeting Euractiv’s editorial mission and commitment to balanced reporting
Profile:
- At least five years of experience in journalism and in EU technology policy.
- Strong English-language writing skills
- Proven understanding of EU policies.
- Ability to deliver accurate stories in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to think quickly and provide insights and perspective on reports coming from a wide variety of sources, including EU institutions, business associations and civil society.
- Hard-working, able to respect tight deadlines, entrepreneurial, team-player.
- Other European languages, as well as interest in producing multi-media content, are an asset.
What we offer:
This is a full-time employment contract under Belgian law (“contrat à durée indéterminée”), with salary and responsibilities commensurate to the candidate’s level of experience.
