Do you commit to forward-looking journalism and exposing the dynamics of European decision-making? Do you have the ambition to serve a pan-European, highly informed audience with cutting-edge news?

If you have experience following EU policy, are curious, have a nerdy interest in the nitty-gritty details, and are keen to work in a team where no two days are ever the same, you might be the person we are looking for.

Euractiv is looking for a tech reporter to join its Brussels team. The ideal candidate will be expected to deliver breaking news stories and in-depth articles focusing on trends in EU and national tech policies, always keeping an eye on their implications for EU policy-shaping and decision-making.

Candidates should be available as soon as possible.

  • Source unique and exclusive stories on EU digital policy;
  • Finding creative angles for stories that reflect a diversity of views;
  • Communicating complex issues in clear and engaging language;
  • Keeping an eye on developments across the 27 EU countries;
  • Contributing to meeting Euractiv’s editorial mission and commitment to balanced reporting;
  • Collaborating with colleagues.

Ideal profile:

  • At least two years of experience in journalism;
  • Proven understanding of EU politics and policies;
  • Native/near-native English speaking - any other European language is a plus;
  • Ability to deliver accurate stories in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to think quickly and provide insights and perspective on reports coming from a wide variety of sources, including politicians, EU institutions, business associations and civil society;
  • Flexible, able to respect tight deadlines, go-getting, team player;
  • Confident in engaging with politicians, business leaders and activists;
  • Existing network of contacts in EU politics and policy with a willingness to network;

What we offer:

This is a full-time employment contract under Belgian law (“contrat à durée indéterminée”), with salary and responsibilities commensurate to the candidate’s level of experience.

Additionally, we’re offering the following benefits:

  • meal vouchers amounting to €8/worked day;
  • reimbursement of public transport in Belgium;
  • €250/year eco-vouchers;
  • hospitalisation insurance coverage;
  • group pension insurance;
  • good balance between remote working and office-based;
  • a broad range of training and development (as part of the HR Academy of Mediahuis group and external training opportunities).

You will work in a vibrant international media office with a multicultural team of talented colleagues you can learn from.
