Responsibilities
- Lead Editorial Vision: Contribute to the editorial strategy, tone, and direction of a twice-weekly newsletter on EU industrial and digital policy.
- Team Direction: Supervise and develop writers, and work closely with designers, and stakeholders to create a polished, professional product.
- Content Curation: Manage the selection and editing of stories, ensuring a balance of breaking news, in-depth features, and commentary.
- Exclusive Coverage: Drive the identification of unique angles, deliver scoops, and secure deeply sourced mini-investigations.
- Source Development: Cultivate and maintain a robust network of contacts in industry and policymaking circles.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all content meets high standards of accuracy, clarity, and editorial excellence.
Requirements
- Experience: A strong background in newsletter writing and editing or related editorial roles, ideally in EU policy or industrial and digital sectors.
- Network: An established network of sources in the Brussels ecosystem and the ability to expand it.
- Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills; proficiency in written and spoken English is a must (additional languages are a plus).
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy, a commitment to deadlines, and a knack for identifying emerging trends.
- Initiative: Self-starter with a drive to innovate, adapt, and lead in a competitive news environment.
Details
- Salary: €35,000–€45,000, depending on experience (part time).
- Location: Preference for Brussels-based candidates with a hybrid work arrangement.
- Contract: Part-time, with a preference for staff contracts in Belgium.
